In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn to craft a beautiful matcha chawan (tea bowl) on the pottery wheel, focusing solely on the throwing process. Perfect for beginners and pottery enthusiasts alike, this course will guide you through the essential techniques of centering and shaping your piece, with personalized assistance from the teacher to help you create the perfect chawan.

Included in the Course:

• Expert instruction on wheel throwing techniques

• Materials to create a matcha chawan

• A matcha starter set from Ceremony Matcha, featuring high-quality matcha powder, a bamboo whisk + spoon, to enhance your tea experience at home

After four weeks, you will be able to pick up your finished chawan, ready to use for your traditional matcha ceremony. This workshop is a perfect weekend project or a unique gift for tea lovers!

Glazing: For glazing, we will apply a white glaze to your piece. If you'd like to glaze it yourself, you can select any glaze from our collection and join one of our glazing sessions for an additional fee of 50 CHF.

Teaching language: The primary language of instruction is English, but the teacher is also learning German and is happy to incorporate a few German words along the way!
